I bought an Olidata Notebook Tehom 7600 because of the low price. I verified that most GNU/Linux distro don't install (if installable) or boot (if live cd). I tried:

Maybe it's possible to run them by passing some parameters to the kernel, I don't know. Only 2 distros seemed to work: gNewSense 2.1 and College Linux 2.3 (we won't care about College Linux, right?).

gNewSense installation was very fast and apparently painless. But when I could use the system... I had only 2 monitor resolutions: 640x480 and 800x600 (default). It was terrible. I had to modify the X11 conf file:

 sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Here is the new contents:

Ok, much better. My screen supports 1280x800 resolution, but I don't care about it. PLEASE NOTE that I don't know if Depth, HorizSync and VertRefresh values are correct. Olidata website doesn't provide those infos and technical support is... well... I hope you'll never have to talk with them. Also, none of the tools I've tried have been able to find out those values.

I had another problem I couldn't solve: after system hybernation & wake up, audio goes away. That's why I don't use hybernation.

I don't have any other problems with gNewSense on my notebook.
