In order to install gNewSense 1.0 on your IBM ThinkPad T22, you must perform the following actions:
Assuming you already have successfully downloaded and burned gNewSense to CD, do the following:
- Insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive
- Hit F12 to enter the removable boot device menu
- Select ATAPI CD-ROM
Once the gNewSense CD boot prompt appears, type linux xforcevesa. This sets the graphics mode to the proper setting for pre and mid-installation.
After you install gNewSense on your ThinkPad T22, reboot as instructed. Log in, and do the following:
- Open a gnome-terminal
Type sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
Configure your video mode (The T22 is most likely using the savage driver.
After you are done re-configuring the X server, hit Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to restart X. After gdm starts again, gNewSense has been installed and the graphics configured correctly.
