Hello. How do I play You Tube videos? I have gnash installed, but still no go. Thanks in advance! Bill

I believe that Youtube has updated something so that Gnsah no longer works. You can use ytplay instead.

Thanks so much. Where would I find ytplay? I checked the repositories to no avail.

gnash 0.8.3 works with youtube.

In Totem movie player go to edit -> plugins click the youtube browser check box. this allows to choose youtube browser in sidebar. Now you can browse and view right in Totem. of course you must have the right Gstreamer codecs installed as well.

Wow, thanks, drascus. That totem plugin is great! I didn't know about that.

firefly1: I'd be interested in how you got Gnash 0.8.3 working... I compiled it on BLAG and Youtube still doesn't work.

firefly128 June 2008, 10:40

blarney: All I did was download the source into /usr/src ./configure checked for all the dependencies needed and installed them with apt-get. Then compiled (it will only let you compile once you have all the required dependencies). Then I installed it and installed the plugin and that was it.

Thanks Firefly... I figured out why it wasn't working. It was still using the old plugin... Youtube works now but there are still many flash sites that it doesn't...
