Hello!
Most modern notebooks, desktop machines have either dual core support and/or good amount of phhsical memory, which means a i386 version is not really compatible with those ones.
amd64/x86_64 would increase interest to gnewsense, and i just read somewhere else that an amd64 version the way. I hope it will be released soon, or just after ubuntu 9!
Bes wishes, best regards!
I'm excited to make the jump to a 64 bit operating system. I would love 64 bit gNewSense!
Unfortunately, it seems like half of the maintainers are working on the x86 version, and the other half are working on the ARM version. Since the x86 version works just fine for me, I can't complain. ;)
I wonder if there will be a "switch" to 64 bit, and when it will be. It's true, there are a lot of computers with 64 bit support, but I would suspect there are a LOT more computers in the world without it right now.
Actually, I think I might be more excited for the ARM version. Small small laptop + no fan + 10 hour battery + free software = win for me! :D
