WillTheNextGnewsenseBeBasedOnHardyHeron

bj?17 September 2007, 16:01

HI Guy's. Having been a strong advocate of Free Software for the last 11 Years, And trying out the "Gnewsense" operating system ( Not bad at all frankly ), Is the next release going to based off of Ubuntu's Hardy Heron? So that I am able to use the Gimp 2.4, Inkscape 4.6 and Kompozer version 0.7.10 (20070829)??

Did I ask a silly question?? Let me know!!

It's a shame that I didn't see the previous post about "Hardy", At least I got a quicker response! Another bug about "Gnu-Sense", Why on earth does it have to be based on Hardy??..... Any one care to share?!

I am presuming that the next version will be based on gobuntu, which is what, gutsy gibbon? I don't really understand your last question. Do you mean Dapper ? If so, I think it is because Dapper was the LTS version of Ubuntu when gNS development started.

Hi lee797. It's ok! I have recently installed "gobuntu gutsy", and it's quite amazing, Everything works, ( Apart from the Wireless obviously ).. I'm not using Firefox only using Epiphany.

gNewSense 2.0 is based on Hardy Heron.

GIMP 2.4 is shipped with gNewSense 2.0 and it works fine.

I have tested Inkscape. No problems there. 0.46 is the latest version, not 4.6. It's in the repositories.

I see no reason why Kompozer wouldn't work.
