Hi
I just d/ld the live cd. We, the family and I, are, unfortunately, in the throes of dealing with a flooded basement...so I'm having to work wirelessly.
I normally run a Kubuntu on a Toshiba Satellite and the atheros chipset works fine, but no go with gNewSense, I tried an Airplus G and no go at all, and a Linksys Wireless G 2.4, it found the card but wouldn't connect.
I also have a Sony Vaio with........yeeeccchhhhhh.. THAT... OS on it, and I had to do the following:
a) disable roaming( hmm, gNS sees the shifted quotes key as an AT... ) but that's ok.
b) enter a static IP address, etc.
b) then enable DHCP, had to do it twice and let it think... the WLAN and WAN lights do not work, but.... all of a sudden, there it was! WOAH! How Kewl is that!
So.... if seeing the LATEST hardware on a Sony Vaio is @all@ gNS does with @just@ basic drivers....woah!
ALSO...
On the Toshiba I have a Kensington dongle and a BLACKJACK, not Blackberry, phone running Windblows mobile... it saw the phone IMMEDIATELY
On the Sony Vaio, the Bluetooth lit up IMMEDIATELY, and saw the phone...
the bluetooth has been @ok@ at other distros.... but not THIS good...
A comment; I'm kind of puzzled at the inclusion of OO, I rather thought the distro would provide Koffice, I use both, and have completely replaced Windblows Office with it( I do a LOT of office stuff, presentations, you name it), the only thing that Koffice does not do is it doesn't read and write to docx... so...
anyhow....I'll wait till I get cable, that should be a few days and then have to be FORCED.... FORCED mind you....to install gNS.
And by the by....... I am ALL about this kind of operation, having been through the travail of Xan$$$...
So.......to the gNS team.......GOOD ON!!!!

Just played that AWFUL! But FUNNY free .ogg... :)
never used Totem, worked like a charm, unfortunately I just gotta have my streaming music from shoutcast, it downloade the restricted drivers for Gstreamer and away I went, listening to Groove Salad as I type,
I forgot to mention, I'm working from the live cd.
Never used Totem before, have to research it...

Hi
Gotta go beddy by... so... I'll have to ask a few questions about streaming the music, I've always used XMMS and since it is now seemingly almost defunct, and is CLI, I've been using Audacity, dunno, from the live cd here, but I assume that Gstreamer being restricted is well restricted....so I tried Rhythmbox, is it using the Gstreamer stuff?
again
great distro!
