I was using Ubuntu Hardy until I switched. I noticed that there is a lot more updates available in Hardy the in gnewsense. What's the reason for this? does this mean that gnewsense is less secure then Ubuntu?
take distribution gnu/linux a and b. a has 50 packages installed while b has 500. now which is going to have more updates and why? gNS is identical to ubuntu's security in aspects of mirroring it, afaik.
I see. Although I didn't know that gnewsense had less packages per say. there really shouldn't need to be less packages. maybe I am just mistaken.
gNS has available, less or more, than ubuntu, in that gNS is a fully free distribution of gnu/linux, so to the extent gNS only includes free software, you will arrive at a difference. i would never use ubuntu, and i don't, that said, i imagine the default installs are different so that would make a bit of a difference.
I was wondering if I could volunteer to help uploading the packages to gnewsense repositories, if I have time of course!
