I tried this twice and the same result happened each time.
Everything including wired and wireless works perfectly after the installation. However, after installing the big chunk of updates:
1- Both wired and wireless networking does not work
3- The desktop theme changes and the menu icon switches to ubuntu's
My system is a Dell Inspiron 1420n from the ubuntu pre-installed laptop line. The wireless adapter is Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 which is supposed have a free driver (and obviously works with the default gNS deltah)

synaptic lists both linux-image-2.6.24-16-386 and inux-image-2.6.24-19-386 as installed
In addition, system monitor shows only one cpu despite my dual core processor

gnufs,
Can you be a little bit more specific about the issue regarding your wireless connection?
If possible, try to connect via network manager and run the command "dmesg | tail" after it fails.
Please post the output here.
About the desktop theme: Change from "gNewSense-Murrine" to "Human-Murrine".
Normally you should have the gNewSense icons back then.

okay,
I have Broadcom NetLink BCM5906M Fast Ethernet PCI Express and Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG, which require tg3 and iwl3945 both of which are non-free. [thanks aric_swartzell] Apparently, the kernel updates remove the wireless driver module (which they should).
And I hope the solution in the thread filologen linked will get my dual cores recognized.
However, I locked the kernel version to that which came with the deltah cd for now while I wait for my D-Link DWA-643 Xtreme N ExpressCard Notebook Adapter to arrive. [Thanks FSF for the harware list!]
I will post how my networking ended up as soon as I get the adapter [which unfortunately may take a couple of weeks for the regular shipment to come from Germany to Turkey :-( ]
