SoundOff

bks26 July 2008, 15:45

In an effort to get to know everyone and ease tensions on the board, let's sound off! Introduce yourself and say "Hi", to everyone.

Hi, I'm bks (on the boards anyway). I am new to gNewSense, but not to GNU/Linux. I made the swith in March 2006 to Ubuntu and I haven't looked back. I just recently came across gNewSense while browsing for a new distro and I still have yet to boot it up (I'm at work). I look forward to communing with all of you and I hope to contribute any experience I can.

See you on the boards!

Hi, I'm Eric Hutchins. I switched to Ubuntu at the very beginning of 2007 and am in the process of switching to gNewSense. I found out about GNU/Linux at college at Potsdam. Recently, my hobby project became GNU with me as the maintainer. Now I am the maintainer of GNU Ball and Paddle, although I still don't have ftp access and there is no website yet. That will come soon, I'm sure. In the meantime, if anyone's interested, you can get it here

I've tried the Hurd and had it working well for a while but X hasn't worked for me for a couple months so I'm waiting for a new Debian GNU/Hurd release before trying again.

Ooh, looks friendster-ish. Okay then.

Hello there, my name is ***** *****. Just call me marine1992. I use gNewSense after I've realized that Ubuntu isn't exactly a libre operating system. I wouldn't say free software but "libre" software to prevent confusion between "libre" and "gratis".

hi I'm Drascus I discovered Free Software in 2006 with Ubuntu 6.06 I quickly found out about RMS and the FSF. I was so excited by Free Software That I promptly joined and got involved in anyway I could think. My laptop just got a healthy Dose of Gnewsense as I was looking for a fully Free OS. I am hoping to get the wireless working soon with an Express Slot card.

Hi, I'm Eric Padman. I started using GNU/Linux with Ubuntu 5.04. Two things got me interested, technical excellence and the freedom aspect. When I found out that Ubuntu isn't 100% free(libre) I switched to Gobuntu. When that project folded I moved to gNewSense.

HI since 1999 i've tried almost every GNU+Linux distro and gNewSense is my choice now in 2008.I tried to master Linux since i met it but all this time i didn't put atention to the fact of the freedom of the software, and i even used some proprietary ,but recently a friend talked to me and told me about the history of the FSF and the GNU project. I cannot believe that all this time i didn't know that GNU is the real OS and Linux just a kernel (thanks to the media and the software vendors) Now that i know the truth i will work to contribute with the FREE software community and try to teach others about the philosophy and the GPL. Viva el software 100% libre!!!
