Hi
I'll let my previous post provide info on the two lappys.
However, here is what happened on a tower using the live CD.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
Two Gig memory
CPU is running about 10 percent
Monitor is a Viewsonic Wide screen LCD. The initial presentation had gNS shifted half to the left. I used the manual set buttons on the monitor and it automatically found the correct placement.
Used Netstat in Network Tools and active networks button hunted through the active ones until found one that worked, it automatically then provided DNS servers etc.
Used a manual keyboard to start, then went to a @gyration@ wireless @air@ mouse and keyboard. This uses a USB dongle.
Using a Linksys 2.4 gig PCI wireless card and a Linksys router, I had to set things up manually but it took only a couple of minutes.
The Network Settings and Network interactive boxes work well, it took only a little going back and forth and things worked fine.
The Host name in network settings is gnewsense, provided by default
although I started with the wlan setting it automatically went to loopback interface and provided the correct Ipv4 IP address and netmask, Ipv6 is listed as Host.
Bluetooth dongle found the Blackjack phone.
A Logiteck wireless mouse and a Mi(brandname) wireless mouse also work.
Haven't tried a printer because I can't get at one for the interim.
Still looks like a keeper! :)

Core 2 Duo T7509
Asus A7SV

with Intel 945-AGN wireless
The Sony Vaio laptop has sound both at startup and playing music.
The above laptop(Core 2 Duo) has sound.
The toshiba lappy(another thread under Intel cards and wireless) does not have sound.
sorry, i didn't realize that the bios etc. had to be free also.
