I have a wireless card that according to the hardware checker should work as it doens't require a proprietary

The light for the wireless comes on and then just before the login screen it goes out. can someone help me resolve this??
The iwl3945 requires non-free firmware, so I'll be extremely surprised if it works with gNS.
OK thanks I don't know why that stupid hardware checker said it would work. I am gong to look for an express card for my laptop to do wireless.
