I've not compiled a kernel before, but now have a new Belkin N1 network card which uses the free software ath9k driver. Kernels above 2.6.27 have it included already.

I needs me wireless. I'm sick of this cord.

Does anyone know a good guide for compiling the latest libre kernel for the intermediate user who's still (a little) intimidated by kernel compilation?

Either that or instructions on how to get the darn driver working under 2.6.24?

Thanks a bunch.

Thanks nks.

It was nice having the deb files. I can put off compiling my first kernel for awhile. ; )

By the way, I found out the Belkin N1 Wireless Notebook mini-card has replaced the atheros with a ralink chipset that didn't work with free drivers. Caveat emptor. I can't vouch for the Belkin N1 regular card. Perhaps it is still atheros-based.
