Are you tying into the Ubuntu kernel versions? I assume that makes it easier; but since the kernel improved Free software support in leaps and bounds, it would be useful for gNewSense to use a more recent kernel than Ubuntu. What is the position on this?

You'd probably want to post this in the mailing list. I'm not even sure the developers look in the forum. http://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/gnewsense-dev

@mjjzf gNewSense is based on Ubuntu LTS releases and follow the LTS updates (our current version is based on 8.04.1).

If you want a more updated LIBRE kernel, please try the Gnufs one here: http://aligunduz.org/gNewSense/

This is great! I just downloaded and installed the latest kernel image and header from the link graziano gave. Are the things on this link truly Free Sotware? I hope so, because they work great! My laptop's wireless card and ethernet card finally work. Thank you so much for this link. Can someone confirm that this software is Free Softare? Thank GNU!

Sweet, it even has special care taken for complete compatibility with some ASUS Eee PC models.

I have problems with The new 2.6.28-libre1 release, and the new patched 2.6.28.8-libre1. Compilation blocked with /sound/oss. But no problem to compile the linux-2.6.28.8-libre.
