This may need to be something that I have use apt-get to install, but are the kernel headers available on a fresh install? If so where? I've tried looking throughout /lib/modules/* and can't find them.

You'll have to install the linux-headers-<kernel-version> package using apt/aptitude/synaptic/adept/gdebi/dpkg

I did install them, but now I am being told that it is not compatible with the running kernel, although I am sure 100% I got the right package. What to do? I can't install VMWare Tools (((
