IntelGmaDoesnTHave3dAcceleration

In gNewSense 2.0, my intel Intel GMA 945GM doesn't have 3d acceleration but in Ubuntu hardy, it works. Is it the OS itself or is it because the driver is not free? Because I believe it IS free!

OpenGL and GLX depends on non-free code, so we have removed them. See http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/gnewsense-users/2008-01/msg00018.html as linked from the homepage.

what are the non-free codes that are required for OpenGL and GLX to operate? 3D acceleration works in deltad!

PS: Sorry for my poor english!

In order to have 3D acceleration, there 2 thing that we need:
(a) a free driver for the video card and

(b) Software inside the Operating system, that allows so.

Even you might have (a), gNewSense found that (b) (OpenGL and GLX) wasn't free so it was removed.

That explains why we don't have 3D acceleration on DeltaH, regarding the video card we're using.
