Just wanted to let people know I created a HOWTO on installing Virtual Box OSE or VBox then installing gNewSense and operating it in seamless mode. This is helpful for those who like the free software ethic but who've never seen GNU/Linux or a completely free OS like gNewSense. They can run it along with their current system until they're ready to switch over 100%.

This is very good I think.

I have tried this and it didn't work. The error message was that the system does not support Open GL. Virtual Box requires kernel 2.6.27 for this.

But in the synaptic I have found no such kernel - thus I do not know how to proceed.

Had to install GNewSense 2.2. instead of 2.1 and now it worked well. I guess 2.1 lacked some key components.

Since posting I've added this to the gnewsense.org wiki which is the preferred/updated location: http://wiki.gnewsense.org/Documentation/InstallInVM

To add to LouigiVerona's comment: You were right. GLX was removed from the 2.1 release due to a licensing issue. This was resolved last year and GLX was reintroduced into gNewSense 2.2.

GLX "binds" OpenGL to X. That's why OpenGL was kaput in the 2.1 version.
