chris@chris-desktop:~$ vrms

           Non-free packages installed on chris-desktop

human-icon-theme Human Icon theme tangerine-icon-theme Tangerine Icon theme

  2 non-free packages, 0.2% of 1049 installed packages.

this is after a fresh install of gNewSense 2.3. is there a way to replace these icon themes without breaking gnome?

This is a bug in vrms.

It sadly reports Creative Commons CC-BY-SA licensed files as non-free. I think it had something to do with a conflict between the DFSG (Debian Free Software Guidelines) and the FSF. Debian does not accept CC-By-SA earlier than version 3. The FSF does.

As far as I know these packages are free. It does suck not to be able to get a clean report from vrms, though. To my knowledge there is no way to remove them without removing Gnome.

What version of vrms are you using? I think the current stable is 1.15. If you have an earlier version, you might want to get the current version or at least look the the changelog. Good luck.
