I am running Ubuntu HH and wanted to try this OS, but when booting the CD I get errors ... "crc error" and "Kernal panic-not syncing:VFS:Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,1)"

Unless someone can assist me, I will continue using Ubuntu

have you checked the integrity of the image after downloading?

Either the CD image did not download properly or the CD did not get written correctly.

To fix this, you can try running the CD image file in an emulator such as (QEMU or VirtualBox) and running a CD integrity check. If this reports the CD as being okay, then the problem is a failed CD burn.

If this is the case, try re-burning the CD image file, possibly at a lower write speed to avoid errors.

If you get the same errors, even in a virtual machine, then the CD image file did not download correctly, in which case you'll just have to download it again.
